Welcome to the Tablix on Morphix CD Contents: 1. How to set up the cluster 2. How to use the cluster 1. How to set up the cluster First insert the Tablix on Morphix CD into the computer you will use to control the cluster (this computer will be called the master node from now on). After a reboot a window with Cluster Configuration should appear on the screen. If the computer won't boot from the CD, try changing the boot priority in BIOS. Choose "Master node" as the role of this computer. a) If you will be running Tablix on a dedicated network (that is, a network segment that isn't used for anything else) select the "Start DHCP server on master node" option (this is the best method). If your network will be used by other people / machines while the cluster is running don't select this option. It will probably create chaos and mayhem on the network! b) If you will be running Tablix on a network that already has it's own DHCP server, don't select "Start DHCP server on master node". Just continue with the next step. c) If your network is used by other people and you don't have a DHCP server at hand you will have to manually configure the network settings on each computer. Good luck. Close the Cluster Configuration window and open the Morphix's Network Configuration. When you finish, restart the Cluster Configuration. Don't select "Start DHCP server on master node". DON'T SELECT "START DHCP SERVER ON MASTER NODE" ON A LIVE NETWORK! Physically unplug all other connections just to be sure nobody else can get to your DHCP server except the computing nodes! Otherwise your network admin WILL get very very angry. You have been warned. Now press the OK button. A window will pop up, saying the the master node is waiting for connects from other computing nodes (slave nodes). At this point you can start inserting Tablix on Morphix CDs into the slave nodes. a) If you followed the step a) above, just press OK on each slave node. b) The "Waiting for slave nodes" window on the master node will display the IP of the master node. Enter this IP into the entry field on each slave node and press OK. c) Close the Cluster Configuration window and open the Morphix's Network Configuration. When you finish, restart the Cluster Configuration. Enter master node IP and Press OK. Return to the master node. If you were lucky you will see that the master node detected all of your slave nodes. Press OK to start the cluster. 2. How to use the cluster If you successfully completed the steps above, you now have the fully functional PVM3 cluster, ready to receive tasks. Click the Tablix folder on the desktop and read the documentation there. Create your school information file (you can find examples in /usr/share/doc/tablix/examples). Start Tablix with "tablix file.xml".
