About Me

I made my first print years ago while attending a darkroom night school course. Looking back, the print was a disaster of photographic print quality and composition. Although the composition was poor, I was very proud of my first image and I hope that you were, or will be, impressed with your first image.

Years of darkroom work, reading and discussion with other photographers has increased my abilities in the darkroom and made photography more satisfying. The darkroom is currently my hobby, although years ago I did part time work in a commercial photographers studio and darkroom, where I worked with large format film processing, color and black and white printing, black and white print reproduction, retouching and mounting.

In my spare time I go to the darkroom, usually printing on 8x10 and 11x14 paper, with the occasional 16x20 inch print.
A few of my friends share my passion for photography and in particular, darkroom work. It is quite satisfying to get together with other darkroom enthusiasts to admire and politely critique each others work.

I have written this web page with the hope of sharing my knowledge of the Black and White Darkroom and all of its wonders. In doing so, I hope that you will come to enjoy your hobby more and become a better printer and photographer.

If you have a question, please read my "FAQ" (Frequently Asked Questions) page or go to my "Ask A Question" page and write out your question. I will attempt to give you an answer, or at least point you in the right direction. I will update this site, when needed.
