A functional object, a bench representing relaxation and calmness is took to a higher level; the artist wanted to catch the moment when a visitor “sits tight”. The baroque red round bench is thus transformed into a musical and visual spectacle. At the moment when a visitor sits on the bench, sound and video recordings begin to play. The bench is partitioned into three distinct sections that all play and display different environments.
Primož Seliškar was born in Ljubljana in 1973. In 2000, he graduated in sculpture at the Ljubljana Academy of Fine Arts and Design. Already during his study he was interested in experimentation with different materials and innovative approaches to design. His sculptures have always established a connection with the people – the visitors could enter them, sit on them, play with them. The main part of his design has always been the inter-action between the visitor and the artist.
